PETS AND PEOPLE, CARING FOR EACH OTHER

A year of lockdowns has impacted us all in so many ways.

But amidst all the uncertainty, our pets have been by our sides.

While some of us have taken on a new pet, others have had to say goodbye to a beloved animal companion.

Research shows the positive effect pets have on our physical and mental health and in today’s climate, never has that been so important or so needed.

From walking our dogs or playing with our cats to feeding our rabbits, pets are an invaluable part of our daily routines and lives.

They give us a routine, a reason to get up in the morning and get on with our day, even when we may want to hog the duvet.

They’re a sea of calm and comfort amongst the uncertainty, a reason to laugh or smile, even when they’re a little naughty.

Our vet and pet professionals have also been by our sides. Colleagues, friends, relatives and neighbours, they’ve worked on tirelessly.

These amazing people and organisations have made big changes to their working practices to keep everyone safe, all while caring for sick and injured animals, 24-7.

It’s for these reasons and more, that our theme for NPM’s 2021 campaign is Pets and People, Caring For Each other.

To reflect this, we’ll be sharing inspirational pet and people stories, from pet carers, veterinary staff and owners across the country.

We’ll share information on responsible pet ownership, including our Top 10 Tips, and we’ll feature the people and pets behind some of our amazing pet charities and rescues.
