National Pet Month starts today!

Today is a very special day. It’s the start of National Pet Month. This year is our 25th anniversary so there’s plenty to celebrate.

From April 1 – May 5 we will be asking you to think about our nation’s pets. Those who are ill, those who have been injured, pets who have been abandoned and need a new loving home.

Not only that but we also want you to join us in celebrating life with your pets. How many times do your pets raise a smile, make you laugh, cheer you up and help you forget about the stresses and strains of life for a few minutes?

Please do something good today. Go to the National Pet Month website and register your support at It’s free and only takes a minute of your time.

Then talk to your fellow pet owning friends and family, tell them about us and ask them to do the same.

Think about ways you could raise money for a favourite UK pet charity and then register on our site for a free events pack which will give you advice on how to stage a fun fundraiser to remember.

If you don’t want to stage an event then talk to pet stores, your local vet or other pet organisations and ask them what they are doing for National Pet Month. You never know, you may even encourage them to put on their own event.

Don’t forget there are events going on throughout the UK during National Pet Month so check out our events map at to see what’s going on near you and keep checking back as this will be updated throughout the campaign.

Please help us help the UK’s pet charities raise money for their work. By telling people about National Pet Month and getting your local communities involved in this year’s campaign you really will be making a difference.

Our nation’s pets deserve it so please, please do something good today and get involved.

Thanks for reading.
