National Pet Month starts today! What are you doing to celebrate?
Why not put on an event and raise cash for a favourite UK pet charity?
Speak to your local vet or pet store and see whether they could stage a pet themed event between now and May 2.
It’s an ideal time for veterinary practices, pet businesses and animal welfare charities to hold an open day so clients and potential clients and customers have a chance to see behind the scenes and what services they have to offer.
Talk to your local pet charities and see how you can help them raise money for their important work. Remember, every penny counts so even something as simple as a bake sale or a sponsored dog walk can make a difference.
Alternatively help them raise awareness so they can find forever homes for the pets in their care. Speak to your local press and let them know what you’re doing to mark National Pet Month.
If you have links with a school, college or youth group then get them involved too. Perhaps you could run a competition and get students to share their pet stories.
To get involved in this year’s campaign sign up today as a National Pet Month supporter at http://www.nationalpetmonth.org.uk/portal/admin/create-account.php It’s free and only takes a minute.
We’ll then keep you up to date with what’s going on nationally and locally and send you a free poster and events pack with advice on how to put on a successful event. We’ll also give you access to free downloads and give you the chance to create your very own National Pet Month event online.
Tell us about your pets by sharing your stories with us. Did you rescue a pet and they have now become your best friend? Do you work for a pet charity whose work has had a major impact on your life? Does your pet have an amazing tale to tell about survival against the odds? Email us your pet’s story and a pic to firstname.lastname@example.org We’ll share your stories through the National Pet Month blog in the coming weeks.
