Our pets provide us with hours of entertainment so now’s the time to make them a movie star for National Pet Month – April 7 to May 7, 2012 in our Pets in the Spotlight video competition.
All you have to do is grab your smartphone or video camera, film a short video clip (2 mins max) of your pets having fun then simply post the clip on our Facebook page, tweet us @NatPetMonthUK or email us at info@nationalpetmonth.org.uk
At the end of National Pet Month on May 7, 2012, a judging panel will choose the winner who will receive a whole host of quality pet themed goodies including Petometer, umbrella, mug, First Aid kit, and photo frame key ring, courtesy of Royal Canin.
The winning video clip will be promoted through all National Pet Month social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and the National Pet Month Youtube channel giving your pet their time to shine in front of a global audience.
A further 10 runner up prizes of animal themed posters and pens are also up for grabs.
So, if you think your pet deserves his or her turn in the spotlight then get filming for the chance to see your pet celebrated across social media.
Remember, we’re not looking for cinematic works of art, just short, fun video clips that reflect this year’s National Pet Month theme of Your Pets and you: a winning team.
Perhaps you’ve got a new puppy that is learning some basic commands, you have a bird that’s great at talking or singing, a rabbit that adores running around in the garden with you or a lizard that loves nothing more than a good cuddle.
Whatever your pet story, we’d love to see your mini animal movie and together we can promote why it’s important to be a responsible pet owner.
“Pets give us so much joy and laughter so our Pets in the Spotlight video competition aims to highlight this and celebrate the many good things that come our way when we’re a responsible pet owner,” says Phil Sketchley, National Pet Month Chairman.
He adds: “Your video clip doesn’t need to be perfect, just show why you and your pet make a winning team. It’s a fabulous, fun way to show the many wonderful benefits of responsible pet ownership.”
National Pet Month, which began as National Pet Week in 1989, encourages people of all ages to come together and celebrate life with their pets – whether they own a fabulous feline or a great guinea pig.
Growing more popular each year, thousands of animal fans help spread the key messages of responsible pet ownership, the mutual benefits of living with pets, the role of pet care specialists and the value of working and assistance companion animals.
As well as a host of fantastic competitions for schools, pets and owners to enter, there are all kinds of fun events taking place across the country where people can celebrate happy times with their pets.
The National Pet Month website www.nationalpetmonth.org.uk includes an interactive map showing where and when events are happening and animal lovers across the country are being urged to register their own event and raise money for a favourite animal charity.
