Dogs Trust wins NPM charity event award

Dogs Trust Loughborough has won the National Pet Month ‘best charity event’ award after their endeavours were officially recognised this week by the National Pet Month Trustees.

Under the banner ‘Celebrate Your Pets’, Dogs Trust showed us how to do just that in style. With an event that drew in the local community, there were many activities going on from craft sessions for children to a Mr Darcy weekend, Mr Darcy being the much loved sponsor dog.

Phil Sketchley, National Pet Month Chairman commented: “National Pet Month is all about celebrating pets and the amazing role they play in our lives whilst at the same time helping local pet charities raise much needed awareness and funds. Through this event, Dogs Trust Loughborough raised almost £250 and more importantly 41 dogs were re-homed over that period. We’re absolutely thrilled!”

Says Nikki Smith, Dogs Trust Loughborough Re-homing Centre Manager: “At Dogs Trust we love dogs and we’re delighted to have been part of the ‘Celebrate Your Pets’ campaign. To hear that we’ve been selected as having the best charity event is something we never expected and our event found homes for 41 dogs, meaning there are 41 families with new pets!”

National Pet Month 2015 will run from 01 April – 04 May, see how you can get involved at www.nationalpetmonth.org.uk
