Healthy Pets Make Happy Pets
With National Pet Month launching their 2009 ‘Healthy Pets Make Happy Pets’ campaign to raise funds for animal charities across the UK, they once again invite you to put your pet on a pedestal and show them at their healthy, happy best in their photographic competition.
To raise awareness for animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, National Pet Month has teamed up with Your Dog and Your Catto create a photographic competition to celebrate the UK's love of pets.
For the chance to make your furry family member a celluloid star in the National Pet Month photographic exhibition we need you to capture your favourite pet moment whether it is them at their most cute and cuddly, showcasing a rare talent or an image that captures your pet at its healthiest and happiest.
The lucky winner and runners up from each category will be showcased in an exclusive display at the UK’s first dedicated consumer, pet exhibition – The Ultimate Pet Show taking place from 2nd – 4th May 2009 at the NEC Birmingham where the overall winner, ‘The Best in Show’, will also be unveiled.
All you have to do is take a new image or dig out an old photograph from years gone by that fits one of the six categories below;
- Cats In Action
- Dynamic Dogs
- Cute and Cuddly Pets
- Pet Portrait
- Talented Pets
- Healthy Pets Make Happy Pets
Category winners will win two tickets to the Ultimate Pet Show, a year’s subscription to Your Cat or Your Dog magazine, one month’s supply of Iams pet food along with the framed exhibition image.
Overall ‘Best in Show’ winner will also receive a luxury bespoke ;collar, handmade for your cat / dog by Holly&Lil worth £75.
Runners up will receive two tickets to the Ultimate Pet Show and their framed image from the exhibition.
How to enter
All you have to do is either post or email your photograph to us at the address or email below. Please indicate which category you are entering as well as your full name, address and telephone number.
The closing date for entry is 5pm on 14th April, 2009.

Terms and Conditions
- Images can be colour or black and white
- Each image can only be entered into one category
- Print images can be any size but no smaller than 6 inches by 4 inches
- Images will only be returned if accompanied by a stamped, addressed envelope. These will then be returned between 1st May and 30th June, 2009.
- The competition will be judged by a panel of experts from the National Pet Month trustee’s board and editors from Your Cat and Your Dog. The judges’ decisions are final
- Pictures submitted will be used in conjunction with the competition and any associated promotion
- In contributing to the National Pet Month Photographic Competition you agree to grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the material in any way that we want, and in any media in connection with this competition.
- You still own the copyright to everything you contribute to the National Pet Month Photographic Competition and that if your image is accepted, we will publish your name alongside it whenever and wherever it is used
- No alternative prize or prizes will be offered and there is no cash alternative
2009 Post National Pet Month competition
You’ve put on your National Pet Month event - very many thanks for your support! Now here’s your chance to submit an entry into the post-National Pet Month Competition 2009.
Send us the details explaining: -
- what was organised
- how your event promoted the aims of National Pet Month
- who attended
- what funds were collected and which local charities benefited (if yours was a fundraising event)
- any other information that will help convince the National Pet Month trustees that you deserve to win a magnum of champagne!
Include photographs, press coverage, website links and anything else that you think is relevant. As well as an overall winner, there will be Certificates of Merit awarded to the category runners-up, which will cover the spectrum of people who organise National Pet Month events and activities.
