Overall winner St Boniface Vets

St Boniface Vets participated in National Pet Month for a second year! Emma, one of the vets at St Boniface, went into local nursery and primary schools through April, May, and June teaching kids about pet health, and specifically raising awareness of exotic animals as pets. The children were able to handle several exotic animals including a bearded dragon, tortoise, snake, gecko and more! They also learnt about the animals’ natural environment and how they could incorporate this into building a suitable home or ‘vivarium’. The school visits included

Children could also enter St Boniface vets picture competition, anyone was welcome to enter they just need to pop their picture into us at the vets where they were all displayed in our reception. St Boniface Vets will be presenting prizes for the best pictures and then all entries will be sent on to National Pet Month organisers to be entered into the national art competition.

We also had an editorial in one of the local newspapers with pictures of the children holding the animals!

Hopefully this gives you some idea about how I got involved with NPM and my local schools. All the visits so far have gone down extremely well and the children were keen to learn about a bearded dragon’s environment
